If THEY need you to be the villain in their version of events, let them.
You’re not here to argue.
You’re not here to correct their narrative.
You’re not here to relive a chapter you’ve already finished.
Letting Go Means Letting Go of the Need to Be Understood
Not everyone will understand why you walked away.
Not everyone wants to.
Some people need to be right more than they need to be honest.
Some need someone else to blame so they never have to look inward. And some are just repeating a story they’ve told so many times they’ve started to believe it.
That’s not your job to fix.
You’re Not a Character in Their Story Anymore
You don’t need to defend your growth to someone who’s still committed to misunderstanding it.
You don’t have to clear your name in a courtroom where the verdict was decided before the trial.
If they want to point, let them point.
If they want to talk, let them talk.
You’re not in that room anymore.
You’re not the villain.
But you’re also not available for cross-examination.
