Success has no dress code.
Speaking from stage, I’ve outsold people in $3,000 suits while wearing ripped-up jeans, a t-shirt, and sandals.
And yes, someone actually said to me afterward:
“Just think how much better you would’ve done if you had dressed for success.”
LOL. Seriously?
Um, I already outsold the next guy by over 200%…
Here’s what they didn’t know…
I grew up in a dirt road trailer park.
My family?
Blue collar.
Factories.
Cotton mills.
Mechanics.
Half of high school, I wore hand-me-down clothes with the soles falling off my shoes.
After “finding success” as an adult I tried the polished haircuts. I wore the “success” suits. I played the part because people said, “That’s what you’re supposed to do.”
Not anymore.
Not for a very long time.
Now? I do what feels right in my soul.
That’s my compass.
Not what people say I should do.
Not what some book says a “professional” looks like.
I already have a compass and it doesn’t point to anyone else’s approval.
For anything, really.
But today, it’s about the suit.
Nothing against the suit.
It looks amazing on you.
I’ve seen some killer suits.
If that’s YOUR compass, do that.
Because here’s what I know:
It’s not about how you’re dressed.
It’s about something far more important:
Presence.
Clarity.
Confidence.
When you know your value, you don’t need a costume.
When your message hits, nobody’s checking your shoes.
When you own the room, they feel it before you ever say a word.
I’ve walked on stage after the guy in the shiny suit…
In jeans, sandals, maybe even a kilt…
And watched a room full of skeptical eyes turn into a room full of tears and people begging to work with me.
Once, a guy ran across a hotel lobby yelling my name.
I had no idea what was coming. Maybe death? Who knows…
When he got to me, he held out his credit card and said,
“I don’t know what you’re selling today, but this card has a $10,000 limit. Just don’t max it out and I’ll buy whatever it is.”
That didn’t happen because I looked impressive.
It happened because I showed up in alignment and delivered something real. And I wasn’t even speaking or selling anything that day. He knew me from a previous event.
Look, if it only works when you’re wearing the costume, is it even real?
If your confidence only shows up when you’re in costume… you don’t have confidence.
You have a disguise. An alter ego.
And if that works for you, go for it.

A different kind of “suit”,
still a suit nonetheless.
But, know this…
Your power…
Your REAL power…
It doesn’t come from your outfit.
It comes from your ALIGNMENT.
Some people are different “on stage” than they are in “real life”.
If that works for you you, do it.
Wear what makes you feel real.
Show up like you mean it, and deliver what they can’t ignore.
That’s what sells.
That’s what moves people.
That’s what wins.
